Agde

Agde is located on the river Herault, 4 km from the Mediterranean. Agde is the Mediterranean port of the Canal du Midi, which connects to the Herault at a lock just above Agde and debouches into the Mediterranean at Le Grau d'Agde.

The name of the town comes from the Greek "Agathe Tyche", or "good fortune", which was the name of the 5th century BC Greek colony on the site.
