Rieux Minervois

Rieux-Minervois, close to Carcassonne, in the Aude department, is a small, pretty village built on two sides of the Argent-Double (double silver) river. At the centre of the Minervois wine region, the town is completely surrounded by a huge plateau of vines.

The village is distinguished by its superb romanesque church, built in the 12th century using the what was then considered sacred number of “7” many times in its construction - for example in the seven-segmented dome.
