The Sidobre

The granite plateau of the Sidobre is found in the north west par of the regional natural park of Haut-Languedoc, overlooking the plain of Castres, in the department of Tarn.

The Sidobre has a major quarrying industry, and the Arche de la Defense at Paris is covered with Sidobre granite. The area is also famous for the strange formations of rock scattered across the plateau, such as the Peyro Clabado (Clenched Nail), the Goose Rock, the Three Cheeses, the Elephant - and even the Phallus!
